Fender FA-125CE Review

View on Amazon

Many of the acoustic guitars offered by Fender have a good entry point in price, however the FA Series models are near the top of our entry level guitars available for Fender.    Fenders FA-125CE (view on Amazon) comes in second place on our top five acoustic guitars from Fender.   The FA-125CE is a full featured, affordable entry level guitar.  One of the main advantages of this guitar are is it has all the basic features you would need as a guitar player to play in different scenarios.   It has pickups so you can plug in if needed,  it has a cut away design to allow for easy access to the upper frets and has the dreadnought body style for full sound.  Fender guitars have always provided a good value  and they are a reputable brand that you can rely on.  However if you are still trying to narrow down the type of guitar  you want before purchasing, check out our types of guitars page.

Fender FA-125CE Features

Top -  The top is made from laminate spruce.

Back and Sides -  Basswood laminate.

Nut and Saddle -   Plastic.

Tuners - Die-cast sealed tuners.

Neck - Made from Nato and fingerboard is walnut.

Bridge -  Viking shaped walnut bridge.

Advantages

Disadvantages

  • Relatively inexpensive
  • Comes with pre-amp and pickups
  • Cut-away design for eay access above the 12th fret.
  • Some models tested had sharp edges on the frets.

Should you buy the Fender FA-125CE?

If you are are on a budget, just starting out and think you may need to be able to plug in to an amplifier at some point, this guitar is a great choice.   You can purchase better sounding guitars starting between 4-5 times the price point for this guitar.  However for a beginning guitarist the Fender FA-125CE provides an excellent value for getting started until you determine if you have the desire for a guitar with upgraded features like all wood and better tone.   As with all acoustic electric guitars you can also use the amplifier to correct any shortcomings in tone and the all laminate design makes for a durable guitar that isn't as sensitive to weather and humidity changes.  If you are looking for a budget guitar that has all the basic features  to start your journey of learning to play the guitar this great guitar to start with.
