Yamaha F335 Review

"Solid entry level guitar by Yamaha...."

By James Wall

The Yamaha F335 Acoustic guitar combines the ability to play well with budget pricing to give beginning guitarists a quality instrument at a very affordable price.

Yamaha’s F335 acoustic guitar also offers a comfortable fingerboard which is critical for beginning guitarists just learning how to formulate chords and fret them accurately.

While this guitar doesn’t rate as our top guitar, it is a guitar that for beginners or someone who wants a full-sized guitar that they don’t have to worry about their guitar investment getting ruined by the elements.

For example, you may not want to take a $2000 guitar on a camping trip by the lake where you may get rained on, high moisture content in the mornings, and many opportunities for your guitar to end up in pieces after an accidental encounter with a large boulder or a tree.

Is the F335 Acoustic Guitar Tobacco Brown Sunburst a good value?

If we were to rank guitars only on price, the Yamaha F335 guitar with its Tobacco Brown Sunburst spruce top and rosewood fingerboard, would be one of the top contenders when you look at the quality of the build, even though the components are less expensive.

Based on our guitar reviews, the Yamaha F335 acoustic guitar with its meranti back and spruce top that stays in tune has one of the lowest entry points based on price. The bracing, construction, and craftsmanship make this product a good value. Yamaha accomplishes the low price point by substitute all-wood products with laminates and alternative materials for nut and bridge components.

While the parts are less expensive and may not carry some of the tone qualities of an all-wood design, Yamaha uses the same manufacturing techniques that they use on the more expensive models, and the result is the Yamaha F335 Acoustic guitar is both reliable and easy to play.

Common Uses For Yamaha F335 Acoustic Guitar

The uses for this guitar are many, however,  the 3 key reasons we would choose the F335 Acoustic Guitar Tobacco Brown:

  • Perfect as an entry level guitar
  • F335 acoustic guitar is useful for road trips
  • Situations where you wouldn’t want to risk an expensive guitar

In addition to being a durable guitar, the laminate materials used on the Yamaha F335 acoustic guitar have  the added benefit that they aren’t as reactive to the environment as an all wood guitar.  Even though it uses a laminated spruce to instead of a solid top the tone is surprisingly good for this level of guitar.

The Yamaha F335 acoustic guitar is easy to play and stays in tune which are important features for a guitar no matter what your price point.  As noted on the Pro Tip the Yamaha F335 also has a slightly shorter scale length making it easier to bend notes against its rosewood fingerboard.

In addition being a guitar that stays in tune, the Yamaha F335 looks great with the Tobacco Brown Sunburst pattern on the laminated spruce top paired with the gold die-cast tuners.
